Samsung: The world's first 3nm chip
At the recent IEEE ISSCC International Solid-State Circuits Conference, 3nm chips! Samsung has zoomed in, and Samsung has successfully ignited the chip battle around the world. At the conference, Samsung launched the first SRAM memory chip manufactured by the 3nm process, pushing the semiconductor process to a new stage again. The 3nm process SRAM memory chip from Samsung has a capacity of 256GB and an area of only 56 square millimeters. The performance is improved by 30 percent and the power consumption is reduced by 50 percent . It is expected to be officially mass-produced in 2022. Samsung adopted a new transistor technology on the 3nm process chip, and used GAA technology to solve a series of problems such as heat generation and excessive power consumption previously encountered in the 5nm process. GAAFET technology is more compact in arrangement and can accommodate more transistors, so the corresponding chip area will be further reduced, coupled with its more precise control of cross-channel current, it is expected to achieve technological leadership.
